Jacinta and Andrew Mackay QLD ( Queensland wedding photographer- Robeccer McLean)

I was so lucky this weekend to leave freezing Canberra and fly to Sunny Mackay in Far North Queensland for the wedding of Jacinta and Andrew. The weather was divine and so was this spunky couple…I knew from the moment I chatted to Jacinta over the phone that this wedding was going to be beautiful.

I love Mackay weddings, they are so much fun and so laid back but so stylish all at the same time.

Jacinta being in marketing and Andrew being a town planner, I knew their wedding was going to be creative with many fabulous ideas for photos, including a Quarry, flower fields, and of cause in town with historical buildings.

Thank you for choosing me to photograph your wedding, this is a fabulous example of  when photography style and the personalities of the couple gel beautifully!

Terina and Matt – Shangri-La Fijian Resort & Spa ( Robeccer McLean Destination photographer)

Bula!!

I have just got back from the beautiful fiji, where I photographed the wedding of Terina and Matt.

From the moment you get off the plane in Fiji you start to relax…I was met outside of customs by some locals with these big smiles , kind eyes and a shell necklace. Every where you walk you are greeted with “Bula” meaning hello!

The Shangri-La resort is about an hour from the airport by transfer bus, this gives you time to enjoy the view and start to wind down into local time.

Any wedding can have mishaps but working with overseas event co-ordinators can sometimes be frustrating, I think it is good to over time things when working on your schedule as the locals are on their time, which can sometimes mean doubling the time on things, then what they have quoted you.

Terina and Matt found themselves having to redo alot of the planing once they set foot in Fiji. To make matters more stressful for them, Matt had a bad accident on a golf buggy the day before the wedding. Taking off most of the skin from his ankle up to his hip on one side, his hand and also getting stiches on his nose. Nothing that a little photoshop magic can’t fix though :)

In saying this the wedding day itself was totally stress free beautiful and magical. It was a day filled with emotion and love. They had 30 of their friends and family make the trip over with them making a beautiful intimate wedding, which I think sometimes can make it more emotional.

The Shangri-La did such a beautiful job of the ceremony, reception, flowers, cake, the food and who could forget the cocktails!

Thank you to you both for allowing me to share and spend such an intimate time with you and your closest loved ones, it was such and honour :)

Please excuse the long post, I wanted to share the whole story of their day :)

Putting the dress on is when it really hits home…OMG I am getting married today :)

The local choir was so beautiful and warriors were fabulous, they tried hard to look mean… but I think their faces are to kind and gentle to get away with it :)

You know it must be good luck to have a rainbow through your whole ceremony!

What a gorgeous idea…whoever gets married in the Chapel at the Shangri-La gets their own personal plaque to hammer in.

I have probably said this many times on the blog before, but I love outdoor receptions :)

Natalie and Mitchell 17th April 2010 ( Sunshine Coast wedding photography)

I was just saying to my Hubbie, I must be getting more soft ( if that is possible) as I get older. I am not one for being overly religous but am finding some of the tradtional ceremonies so moving. Maybe it’s because it is something different to what I am used too :)

Natalie and Mitchell had a traditional Serbian Orthodox ceremony at Farrer Orthodox church followed by a reception dinner at The Lobby. They had a beautiful choir singing in support of the priest.

The priest was amazing allowing almost free rain of the church and gave me a religous braclet at the end… such a warm fellow :)

We made our way into the city and used the parliamentary triangle to get some wonderfully varied shots. The sun went down really quickly so we had to find spots where there was some lighting. All I can say is thank god for Video lights and 6400 ISO :)

Thank you to Natalie and Mitchell for being such great sports, enjoy your sneak peak :)

These look superimposed, but they are not lol! These are the little sugar coated almonds that were thrown over the couple as they left the church. They just happened to catch the sun on the way over :)

Beautiful light in the church :)

What can I say about autumn light…soo yummy!

One of my favourites !

awwwww!

Masha took this photo, I loved it.. especially the reflection, good job Masha !!

It was quite dark at this stage… using 6400 iso and video light.

Using a mix of street light and video light. it was pitch black :)
